Preparations
PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE:
In order to undertake this trip, you should be comfortable skiing black diamond slopes at downhill facilities and be able to ski off-piste under varying conditions. You should be in good physical condition and must be familiar with mountains in the winter. You should have good knowledge regarding avalanches and some glacier knowledge.
If you do not have the required mountain experience, you should hire a guide or register for a tour with the Norwegian Trekking Association (DNT).
Bre og fjell Mountain Guides arrange guided tours. Read more here.

Familiarise yourself with the conditions in the area. We recommend that you study the avalanche risk in the area before departure at varsom.no, and the weather at yr.no.
IS THERE A SHORTER ROUTE?
It is possible to divide up the trip. Five consecutive days in the mountains can be challenging. A good alternative is to start at Gjendesheim lodge and then complete the first three legs to Spiterstulen lodge, before ending the trip there.
TRANSPORTATION
The trip starts at Bessheim lodge and ends at Krossbu lodge at Sognefjellet mountain. There are many alternatives for coordinating transportation.
A good alternative is to take the train to the town of Otta and then the bus onward to Gjendesheim lodge.
